Bo’Kaap is a delight to the senses, with rows of quaint houses painted in shades of pink, blue, yellow, and green, and a food culture kept alive by the descendant communities of Malaysian, Indonesian, and African slaves, who arrived here in the 16th and 17th-centuries.
Located at the foot of Signal Hill, neighboring the trendy De Waterkant district and historical city center, you can uncover local history at the Bo’Kaap Museum, admire South Africa’s first recognized mosque, the Auwal Masjid, and soak-up sweetly fragrant aromas at the Atlas Trading spice shop.
Getting around:
Getting around is very easy with the Red bus a few meters away in Long Street, My Citi Bus multiple connections points at the throw of a stone, Uber, bicycles rentals etc…
